THE THURSDAY BRIDGE CLUB, CAMBRIDGE
CONSTITUTION
1 The objective of the Club shall be the amicable conduct of duplicate contract bridge competitions,
in accordance with the Laws of the game and the regulations of the English Bridge Union. The Club
shall be affiliated to the Union and to the Cambs and Hunts Contract Bridge Association.
2 PRESIDENT.
There shall be a President of the Club.
3 MANAGEMENT.
The management of the Club shall be carried out by a Committee consisting of a Chairman, Hon Secretary,
Hon Treasurer, Hon Tournament Organiser, Hon Match Secretary and two other members. The Committee
shall be elected, and an Hon Auditor appointed, at the Annual General Meeting. No member of the Committee
shall hold the same office for more than three consecutive years. Four members shall form a quorum. The Committee
shall have authority to co-opt not more than two members for particular purposes or to fill any vacancy that may arise.
4 MEMBERSHIP
The Committee shall have authority to elect persons to membership, and to refuse or terminate membership.
5 FINANCE
Annual subscriptions, table money and visitors' fees shall be determined at the Annual General Meeting.
Subscriptions shall be payable by a date to be decided by the Committee. The financial year of the Club shall
end on 30th September, and an audited statement of accounts shall be presented to the Annual General Meeting.
6 GENERAL MEETINGS
a) The Annual General Meeting shall be held in October of each year. Motions shall be submitted in writing to
the Hon Secretary, proposed and seconded, not less than 21 days before the meeting. The agenda, including
any properly submitted motions, shall be placed on the Club notice board not less than 14 days before the meeting.
b) Special General Meetings may be called by decision of the Committee or on request signed by not less than 10
members: not less than 14 days' notice shall be given by placing an agenda on the Club notice board.
c) 20 members shall form a quorum at a General Meeting; save that, if the attendance at an Annual General Meeting
is less than 20, the meeting shall determine the annual subscription, table money and visitors' fees for the forthcoming
year. Simple majority voting shall apply at all General Meetings, except that any amendment to this Constitution shall
require a two-thirds majority of those present.
